On September 6, South Korean research institute SNE Research disclosed data showing that the total battery consumption of electric vehicles (EV, PHEV, HEV) sold worldwide (excluding China) from January to July 2024 was about 192.8GWh, an increase of 12.6% over the same period last year.
From the perspective of the TOP10 ranking of global (excluding China) power battery installation, there is no difference from the first half of the year. From the perspective of year-on-year growth, among the TOP10 companies in the global (excluding China) power battery installation from January to July, only Panasonic maintained a continuous negative growth, and the rest all increased. Ranking of global (excluding China) power battery installation from January to July 2024
Specifically, from January to July, a total of 4 Chinese companies were listed in the TOP10 global (excluding China) power battery installation, with a market share of 34.8%. Among them, CATL's installed capacity was 51.9GWh, an increase of 11.0% year-on-year, and its market share reached 26.9%, ranking first.
At present, major global vehicle manufacturers such as Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Hyundai are using CATL's batteries. The company launched the high-performance lithium iron phosphate battery Shenxing Plus in April this year, and launched the new NCM product Kirin Battery in the second half of the year.
Both new battery products have been confirmed to be installed in many models, and are expected to further expand their market share in China. In particular, the company has solved the oversupply problem in the domestic Chinese market by exporting overseas to Brazil, Thailand, Israel, Australia, etc., and is expected to rapidly expand its global market share.
